Course title: Level 3 First Aid at Work (FAW)

Qualification Description: This three-day FAW course is specifically designed for the learners to become the designated First Aider in the workplace. This course is fully accredited by QCF and there conforms and meets all standards of the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of the course learners will be issued with a First Aid certificate which is valid for 3 years. 

 

What is the course duration? 18 hours of contact teaching hours with the learners. Usually run over a 3 day period. 

 

What is the course aim? The aim of the First Aid at Work course is to give learners the knowkledge and confidence to perform and deal with first aid.

 

By the end of the course candidates will be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills needed to deal with life threatening emergencies in the workplace. 

 

The First Aid at Work Syllabus Includes:

 

 - Health and Safety

 - Common fears of First Aid

 - Initial assessment of the casualty

 - Recovery position

 - Heart conditions

 - CPR 

 - Serious bleeding

 - Burns and Scalds

 - Spinal injury

 - Embedded objects

 - Strains and sprains

 - Dressings

 - Recording and Reporting 

 - Shock

 - Use of AED

 

Course Assessment:- The assessment is carried out by thoery tests throughout the days tuition and a practical assessment. Successful students will receive The Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification endorsed by the QCF. This certificate is valid for a period of 3 years. 

 

Career Progression:- The next natural progression route would be for learners to gain the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) and become a First Aid Instructor.
